Use Friendswood’s current online permit route
Friendswood directs permit applicants to its online Permits and Inspections system. The City states that its 2024 codes with local amendments took effect March 1, 2026. Confirm the current roof permit application, document list, and inspection requirements with Community Development for the property and work you are planning.
Separate municipal permits from TDI certification
A city permit and a TDI windstorm certificate are separate questions. TDI’s Galveston County map lists Friendswood among the communities in the county’s Inland II area; Friendswood also crosses county lines, so use the exact address and the appropriate current TDI map before drawing a conclusion about a specific home.
TDI lists the 2024 building codes as effective for windstorm certifications from April 1, 2026. Ask who is responsible for the inspection sequence and required documents before a roof replacement begins.
Plan the roof work around what the inspection finds
For a repair, tell TBAR where and when water appears and share any previous repair notes. For replacement, ask how tear-off, decking assumptions, flashing, ventilation, cleanup, and any additional work will be documented before it proceeds.
