THE WORK / STEP BY STEP

Know what happens next.

A replacement is more than new shingles. These are the decisions and documents to settle before the work begins.

01

Look at the roof

Discuss age, leaks, storm concerns, ventilation and roof details. An on-site review and roof measurements help define the scope.

02

Choose the system

Compare the named shingles, underlayment, flashing, ventilation and any decking allowances in a written proposal.

03

Plan the paperwork

Confirm applicable permits and, for a property in a designated catastrophe area, whether TDI windstorm inspection is required during the work.

04

Install and close out

Review installation, cleanup, inspection records when required and the warranty documents that apply to the finished roof.

GAF WARRANTY OPTIONS

Know exactly what the proposal includes.

TBAR's GAF Certified Plus credential supports discussion of System Plus and Silver Pledge limited warranty options on qualifying GAF roof systems. Eligibility, covered work, exclusions and registration depend on the written GAF terms and the system installed.

COASTAL ROOF WORK

Check windstorm requirements early.

Most replacements and major repairs in TDI-designated catastrophe areas require an inspection and certificate of compliance. The address and work scope determine what applies. Plan an inspection before covered work is concealed.
